Superbowl Ad Game Wrap Up

Superbowl XLV was a great game and, for once, the highlight was on the football and not the ridiculous ads that cost a fortune to air during the most coveted of time slots. That didn't stop the Mad Men from trying to get our attention though, and I decided to post a few of the ads that stood out during the game.

First off was Eminem's two commercials. One for Lipton Brisk and another for the Chrysler 200, emphasizing Detroit above the actual car. For someone who has had an enormous amount of commercial success, Eminem has steered clear of actual commercials. Though he is still a long way from appearing in the amount of commercials Dr. Dre has, we applaud Eminem for keeping it real in the spots.

Next up is a Best Buy ad featuring the omnipresent Justin Beiber and The Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. Beiber, who is promoting a movie, is impossible to escape. He stood in for John Stewart on The Daily Show last week and was the featured musical guest on a painfully unfunny SNL. I suppose he's here to stay for a while, but it still makes me wince when I see him standing opposite of Ozzy Osbourne hocking cellphones for Best Buy. See the commercial below and check out the clip under that, where only a couple of months ago, Ozzy Osbourne asked "Who the fuck is Justin Beiber?"

The best ads during the game came came in the form of movie trailers from Marvel. They debuted the trailers for Captain America: First Avenger and Thor. Maybe I'm just a comic book geek, but both of these movies look stellar and and are definite first day must-sees. Oh, and there was also a trailer for Super 8, a movie written and directed by J. J. Abrams and produced by Steven Spielberg. Not much was revealed except their involvement. Check em out below.
